My work is influenced a lot by nature and organic forms and colours, and
I enjoy working with a range of materials including thread and fabric,
inks, and materials that I can change the properties and typical views of. An example of this is taking shapes of found objects and obscuring them to just the outline in Photoshop and mark making sketches. My favourite media to draw with is oil bar
because I find that it allows room for error due to the nature of the crumbly soft texture and I find it adds to the drawing. I am very passionate about accidental marks and textures because the combinations of experiments with tie dye and stitch, for example is very vast. At the moment
I am focusing on attention to detail in colour mixing and slightly simplifying my ideas to create a range of different samples. Recently my work has
developed from understanding the creation of 3D sculptures to accurately measuring out the correct dye stuff to use to archive the desired shade in the dye lab, I enjoy
the challenge of throwing myself into an unfamiliar scene and having this influence me to create a piece. I have also tried to include meaning into my work as the lectures on the theories of the creation of artwork has inspired me to crate meaningful art. The exploration of dye and working with fibres has open up new opportunities and understandings to help develop and articulate my current
work.
